As part of L’Oreal PPD’s commitment through THE TEXTURE OF CHANGE, advocating to make textured hair education a standard for licensing and learning is a key effort through our partnership with PBA and the Texture Education Collective (TEC). TEC founding members are championing a bill in the state of New Jersey, intended to pass legislation requiring cosmetology state boards licensing requirements be inclusive of all hair types.
New Jersey is expected to be one of the very first states to soon pass bill A5443/S3845, which requires training of cosmetologists, defined as hairstylists, beauticians, barbers, and hair braiders, to include working on textured hair. This bill is sponsored by New Jersey State Assemblywoman Angela McKnight and New Jersey State Senator Teresa Ruiz.
We need your support to help make textured hair education a standard for licensing and learning throughout beauty schools nationwide! We’re asking you to please sign the petition, share with family and friends, and follow @TheTextureOfChange on Instagram to stay up to date.
